Zach Johnson Wins British Open In Four-Hole Playoff For Second Major Title

Zach Johnson won the British Open at St. Andrews on Monday in dramatic fashion.

The tournament was forced into four-hole aggregate playoff between Johnson, South African Louis Oosthuizen and Australian Marc Leishman. Johnson parred the final hole and finished the playoff at 2 under par, one stroke ahead of runner-up Oosthusizen.

All three finished the first four regulation rounds at 15 under par. Johnson and Leishman shot 6 under Monday, while Oosthuizen shot 3 under.

Johnson and Oosthuizen shot 1 under on the first playoff hole, while Leishman shot 6 over par.

Through two playoff holes, Johnson sat at 2 under, Oosthuizen at 1 under and Leishman closed the pack at 1 over par.

After three holes, Johnson led the group at 1 under, one stroke ahead of Oosthuizen and two ahead of Leishman.

Johnson and Oosthuizen parred the final hole, giving Johnson a one-stroke victory.

Johnson captured the 2007 Masters championship, and Monday’s victory was the 39-year-old’s second career major win.
