Angel Di Maria Wants Total Domination With PSG Following Man United Exit

Angel Di Maria’s failed stint with Manchester United won’t dim his ambition.

Di Maria completed a blockbuster transfer to Paris Saint-Germain from Manchester United on Thursday. Both clubs confirmed Di Maria’s transfer on their respective Twitter accounts.

PSG reportedly paid Manchester United £44.3 million ($68.8 million) for Di Maria, allowing the Red Devils to recoup a large chunk of the £59.7 million ($92.7 million) they paid for the Argentine last summer.

Di Maria, 27, outlined the lofty goals he set for his PSG career in a statement on the French club’s website.

“I want to win every competition we enter, both in France and Europe,” Di Maria said, according to Sky Sports. “I want to win the Champions League, which is a dream for all footballers, for a second time.

“We will do everything we can to bring Europe’s biggest trophy to France and the fans of Paris Saint-Germain.”

Di Maria set a British soccer record for the most expensive transfer when he left Real Madrid for Manchester United, but his Old Trafford career failed to meet expectations. Di Maria and his family ultimately failed to settle in the area, and he struggled to adapt to manager Louis van Gaal’s playing style.

Di Maria now is the second-most expensive player in French soccer history, trailing only new teammate Edinson Cavani. Time will tell whether Di Maria can justify his price tag and restore his reputation in the French capital.
