If you missed Episode 2 of HBO’s latest season of “Hard Knocks” on Tuesday night, we have a very important message to pass along: Please don’t mess with Brian Cushing.
The Houston Texans linebacker can get forgotten on a defense dominated by large personalities like J.J. Watt and Vince Wilfork. Yet Cushing, a former NFL Rookie of the Year and Pro Bowler, is no slouch, especially when you get him riled up.
Running back Alfred Blue made that unfortunate mistake during a recent practice, giving Cushing a little shove at the end of a rep. “Hard Knocks” captured what followed, and let’s just say it didn’t go well for Blue.

Not only did Cushing toss Blue like a rag doll after calling him out, he also delivered a gem of a line after his feat of strength:
“First of all, you aren’t going to block me. Second of all, you don’t want to fight me. Third of all, I’m the man.”
Cushing indeed is a man, something he reiterated to wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins later in the episode in a hilarious exchange about Starbucks lattes.

Thus concludes today’s lesson: Don’t instigate Brian Cushing, and if you’re going to get him coffee, make sure it’s from Dunkin’ Donuts.
