David Ortiz decided it was time for an equipment change and the crowd reaped the benefits.
Ortiz tossed his batting gloves to some lucky Boston Red Sox fans in the seventh inning of Friday’s 7-2 win over the Kansas City Royals at Fenway Park.
Big Papi went 0-for-7 in the first two games of Boston’s series against Kansas City, so perhaps his decision was more than just a nice gesture. Either way, it worked out beautifully for all involved.
Some fans went home happy and Ortiz bounced back Saturday night by reaching base five times despite the Red Sox’s 6-3 loss to the Royals.
