Eduardo Rodriguez isn’t one to dwell on the past.
The Boston Red Sox left-hander proved as much Tuesday night when he took the mound against the Cleveland Indians six days after the Miami Marlins touched him for eight runs over five innings.
Rodriguez bounced back with a vengeance, allowing just one run on six hits over eight innings while striking out five and not allowing a walk in Boston’s 9-1 win over the Indians at Fenway Park. The rookie’s impressive effort was enough to earn him Amica Pitcher of the Week.
Rodriguez cruised through Cleveland’s lineup out of the gate, retiring his first 10 batters before Francisco Lindor singled in the fourth inning. The 22-year-old would allow just five more baserunners after that, his only blemish coming on a Michael Brantley homer in the seventh inning.
The impressive performance earned Rodriguez his first win in the month of August and improved his record to 7-5 on the season.
