Report: Tom Brady, NFL Unlikely To Reach Settlement On Suspension

The NFL and Tom Brady haven’t been able to find any common ground yet, and it doesn’t sound like there’s a settlement on the way.

Brady, along with NFLPA representation, is scheduled to have a settlement conference Wednesday in New York. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell — who upheld Brady’s four-game suspension — is expected to attend.

However, a source told The Washington Post there’s not a lot of confidence the sides will be able to reach a settlement.

“€œI don’€™t see much willingness to move toward a middle ground,” one source told the paper.

Another source said, “You never say never, I guess,” but added, “I don’t expect (a settlement).”

U.S. District Judge Richard M. Berman has urged the two sides to work toward a settlement. Any sort of prior attempts to settle have been unsuccessful, although it’s likely the sides would like to resolve everything by the start of the 2015 NFL season. If that is the case, they’re running out of time, as the Patriots open the season in less than a month when they host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sept. 10.
