Stephen Amell is known for his charity work, and took the opportunity to use his appearance on WWE SummerSlam as another way to launch a charity campaign.
The star of CW’s “Arrow” asked fans to design potential logos for his then-impending battle with Stardust at SummerSlam after he laid the smack down on the heel on “Monday Night RAW” two weeks prior.
After numerous designs were submitted, Amell chose a winner and announced he would give the proceeds to Emily’s House, a Toronto-based hospice for children and families specializing in end of life care.
Stardust chimed in and made a friendly wager with Amell.
Late Monday night, Amell announced that over $210,000 was raised, and by the time SummerSlam ended, over 11,000 shirts had sold. At the time of this article’s publishing, that number was over 15,000.
Stardust, a gracious loser this time around, is a man of his word.
Kudos to both Amell and Stardust for such an awesome accomplishment. They definitely haven’t failed this city this time.
