Awkward: Zdeno Chara, Marian Hossa, Marian Gaborik With Stanley Cup (Photo)

What do you get when you take three Slovakian hockey players and put them with a 34 1/2-pound chunk of metal? An incredibly awkward picture of three Stanley Cup champions surrounding the Cup in their homeland, of course.

Marian Hossa won the Stanley Cup Finals with the Chicago Blackhawks this past season, and he got to spend his scheduled day with Lord Stanley on Friday. Hossa brought the Cup back home to Slovakia, and shared the experience with countrymen Zdeno Chara and Marian Gaborik.

At least the Cup wasn’t late this time.

You’d think the three superstars could have coordinated the picture a little better. Maybe a pose or two? Or even a quick glance at the camera?

In the players’ defense, it’s probably pretty intimidating being around the greatest trophy in sports. Boston Bruins fans, though, hope Chara gets over his nerves and becomes even better friends with Lord Stanley.

Maybe the 6-foot-9 defenseman might even invite him on trip to Boston next June.

What do you think?  Leave a comment.
