Jerry Jones Gushes Over Brandon Weeden: ‘You Won’t See A More Gifted Passer’

Tony Romo is going to miss a good chunk of the season, but that might be a good thing, according to Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

The Cowboys lost Romo for the foreseeable future Sunday when he went down against the Philadelphia Eagles with a shoulder injury. Romo is expected to miss up to 10 weeks, which puts the Cowboys in a tough spot, especially as a team with preseason Super Bowl aspirations.

It’s expected backup Brandon Weeden will be the guy under center moving forward. Jones sounded quite all right with that Tuesday in a radio interview with 105.3 The Fan in Dallas.

Well then. Weeden’s career stats certainly do seem to tell another story. The Oklahoma State product is just 5-16 in his 21 career starts, completing 56.4 percent of his passes with more interceptions (28) than touchdowns (27).

In Weeden’s defense, he did play well upon entering the game Sunday in Philly. The 32-year-old completed all seven passes he attempted for 73 yards and a touchdowns, so maybe Jones is onto something.

We’re not counting on it, though. The Cowboys host the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
