Landon Donovan can enjoy being a soccer fan now that he no longer plays the sport for a living.
Donovan spoke with NESN.com’s Marcus Kwesi O’Mard on Tuesday about a number of his experiences playing club and international soccer in the United States and abroad. The wide-ranging interview starts with Donovan signing autographs in the parking lot after a 2001 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the old Foxboro Stadium and touches on some major decisions that affected his iconic career in U.S. soccer.
Donovan visited NESN in partnership with Liberty Mutual, which is presenting the United States’ exhibition game against Brazil on Tuesday night at Gillette Stadium. Donovan won’t lace up his cleats to play for Team USA anymore, but those pregame butterflies remain part of his new gameday routine.
