Spangalang Brewery in Denver is tapping a new Broncos-themed beer for the AFC Championship Game, and they’re saving a special batch for Tom Brady.
But their intentions aren’t very kind.
Spangalang is releasing its Orange Crushicle beer, a tribute to the Broncos’ “Orange Crush” defense of the late 1970s and early 1980s, for Sunday’s game, and it’s only available on tap at the brewery. But they’ll have some set aside for Brady if the Patriots lose.
“Just before kickoff, we’re going to drop the pressure on the beer by a few PSI,” Spangalang’s Darren Boyd told the Denver Post’s Jeremy Meyer, referencing Deflategate. “It’ll be a bit flat and more to his liking, something to enjoy while he wipes away the tears.”
Despite all the trash-talking, the beer actually sounds pretty tasty. However, Boyd doesn’t think Patriots fans will like it, for some reason.
“It’s the beer equivalent of a Dreamsicle frozen treat with refreshing orange citrus notes wrapped around subtle vanilla flavors,” Boyd said. “It’s a guaranteed winner we’ve brewed in honor of the future AFC champion Denver Broncos. Local craft beer drinkers will love it, but it’s way too much for people from New England.”
Amazingly, this isn’t the first alcohol-related jab to come out of the Peyton Manning-Tom Brady showdown. Rhode Island’s Sons of Liberty Spirits already shipped a bottle of whiskey to Manning, or rather his wife Ashley, to give him something to cry over if the Broncos lose.
