Chip Kelly probably won’t be unemployed for long.
A few weeks after being fired as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, Kelly is sure to be on the coaching lists of several teams with vacant positions. One team considering Kelly is the San Francisco 49ers, who recently met with him about their head coaching position, per CSN Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter provided additional details.
Chip Kelly's camp has reached out to 49ers to express interest in their HC opening, per league source. 49ers likely to at least consider it.

The 49ers fired head coach Jim Tomsula shortly after Week 17. San Francisco ended the 2015 season with a 5-11 record, the team’s worst mark since 2007.
The 49ers also were the lowest-scoring NFL team at 14.9 points per game. Kelly is known for being an offensive genius, and even though the Eagles struggled throughout the campaign, they did rank 13th in points scored and 12th in yards per game.
Kelly won’t have the same offensive talent in San Francisco he did in Philadelphia, but trying to resurrect 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s career would be a good challenge for the coach.
