Jared Allen Announces Retirement By Literally Riding Off Into Sunset (Video)

This is how you announce your retirement — if only the sun would cooperate.

Carolina Panthers defensive end Jared Allen is calling it a career after 12 NFL seasons, a decision he announced in a very unique way Thursday. The four-time All-Pro tweeted a video of himself literally “riding off into the sunset,” despite not having the whole sunset thing.

Allen also released a more formal statement, too, per NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.

Allen finished his career with 136 sacks, tied with Julius Peppers for the ninth most in NFL history.
