Barry Bonds Is 51, Wins Home Run Contest Vs. Giancarlo Stanton, Marlins

Barry Bonds hasn’t played in the big leagues since 2007, he’s 51 years old and, uh, he’s taken on a little bit different physique, but he apparently can still rake.

The controversial all-time home run leader is settling in just fine in his new role as Miami Marlins hitting coach. And if one spring training anecdote is true, Bonds’ best method of teaching is to show his pupils how to get things done.

SiriusXM host Craig Mish tweeted Wednesday morning that Bonds actually defeated a group of Marlins in a home run hitting contest. According to Mish, the group of players included Giancarlo Stanton, arguably Major League Baseball’s most feared power hitter.

Unfortunately, however, there isn’t video of the backfield hijinks, so we’ll just have to use our imagination.

Then again, could a Bonds return be on the horizon? Probably not, but we can hope.
