Brock Holt proved yet again just how much value he can add to the Boston Red Sox’s roster.
Boston’s super utility man made the start at second base Monday for the team’s spring training game against the St. Louis Cardinals and made one of the finest plays we’ve seen all spring.
Holt robbed Cardinals second baseman Jedd Gyorko with a diving stop on a ground ball up the middle. Holt ranged to his right and made the sliding grab before getting to his feet and throwing a dart to first baseman Hanley Ramirez to get Gyorko by a hair.
In addition to flashing the leather, Holt’s having a nice spring at the plate, too. The 2015 All-Star entered Monday’s game hitting .300 with a home run and three RBIs in 30 spring training at-bats.
