Andrew Luck Contract Extension A Top Priority For Colts? Sounds Like It

Andrew Luck is eligible for a contract extension and the man who owns the Indianapolis Colts wants his franchise quarterback’s next deal to be signed, sealed and delivered by July 4.

Jim Irsay revealed his thoughts Tuesday while speaking with reporters at the NFL Annual Meetings in Boca Raton, Florida.

Luck likely is poised for a massive long-term contract despite coming off an injury plagued season in which he was limited to seven games.

The Colts drafted Luck with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft and he’s lived up to expectations so far. He averaged more than 4,000 passing yards per season with a total of 86 touchdown passes from 2012 through 2014.

If Brock Osweiler — an inferior quarterback — is able to land a four-year, $72 million contract with the Houston Texans coming off his rookie deal, Luck should be able to break the bank.

Indianapolis is 3-3 in the playoffs with Luck under center. He led the Colts to the AFC Championship Game during the 2014 campaign, but they lost 45-7 to the New England Patriots in what became known as the Deflategate game.
