Did Cam Newton Troll Peyton Manning In His Goodbye Instagram Post?

Cam Newton’s interesting writing style has led some to believe he might be trolling one of the greatest of all time.

NFL great Peyton Manning announced his retirement from football Monday, ending his 18-year career on top after his Denver Broncos beat Newton’s Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50.

After the Super Bowl, Newton and Manning shared an emotional moment where Newton congratulated Manning, and Manning reciprocated by praising Newton’s play and wishing him well down the road. Newton continued that love fest Monday with an Instagram post congratulating Manning on his retirement.

However, there’s one part of the Instagram post that looks like Newton possibly was throwing some shade at Manning.

Here’s the part that really stands out: “You set the bar H1GH….extremelyH1GH and knowing your family, I know that’s just the norm.”

Now, if we’re really trying to find something here, we’d argue “H1GH” looks a lot like “HGH.” Manning, of course, was tied to human growth hormone in a December Al-Jazeera report that claimed HGH was shipped to Manning’s house and addressed to his wife.

It’s almost certainly nothing, especially when you consider Newton often substitutes the letter “I” for the number “1,” his jersey number. Then again, it’s Newton and everything gets blown out of proportion with the MVP. His post-Super Bowl news conference is Exhibit A of that fact.
