J.R. Smith and LeBron James have been Cleveland Cavaliers teammates for a little more than one season, and Smith hopes it remains that way for a while.
James recently revealed he would “take a pay cut” to someday form a super team comprised of his friends and fellow NBA superstars Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade and Chris Paul.
Smith wants to be on that team, if it happens.
“That would be dope. That’d be sick,” Smith told Peter Botte of the New York Daily News. “I’d like to see it. I just hope they save me a spot and I’m on the team.”
The only player of the four mentioned above who Smith hasn’t played with is Wade, which would give them instant chemistry.
Smith is a quality role player and would be an ideal fit on any super team. He can provide instant offense off the bench with his outside shooting and ability to score at the rim. The veteran shooting guard is a streaky shooter, but when he’s hot, few players in the league are more dangerous from deep.
