Late hits that include contact to the head often result in suspensions for NHL players.

That’s what might be coming to Columbus Blue Jackets forward Jared Boll, whose late hit on Philadelphia Flyers forward Pierre-Edouard Bellemare on Tuesday night resulted in a five-minute major penalty for interference and an ejection.

Here’s the hit in question.

Blue Jackets head coach John Tortorella was livid on the bench as he learned of Boll’s punishment. Todd Jones of the Columbus Dispatch provided some postgame reaction from Torts.

The Blue Jackets won 3-2.
