Joey Votto’s newest quirk is a real head-scratcher.
The Cincinnati Reds first baseman is a little out there at times, and his new routine won’t do anything to dispute that notion.
Votto unveiled the new mid-at-bat routine over the weekend in a game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. In between each pitch, Votto puts his hands on his knees and rest his bat in between his legs. He then bends over, looks at the ground for a moment and then gets back to work.
It’s pretty weird.

Basically, Votto is the weird guy with the car from “Superbad.”
Joey Votto, asked by catcher A.J. Ellis why he was leaning on his bat after every pitch, said: "I'm thinking."
