Proposed Redskins Stadium Includes Moat For Kayakers, Surfers (Photo, Video)

Come for the football, stay for the kayaking and surfing.

That might be the Washington Redskins’ new motto based on a stadium idea that made its way around the Internet on Monday.

The Redskins are looking for a spot to build a new stadium, so they hired Danish architecture firm Bjarke Ingels Group to come up with design concepts. The firm and its plan for Washington’s potential new football home recently were featured on CBS’ “60 Minutes,” and let’s just say calling the idea bold would be an understatement.

What do you think?  Leave a comment.

Yes, you are looking at a moat for surfers and kayakers surrounding the stadium.

Let Bjarke Ingels explain his thinking.

“When I started studying architecture people would say, you know, ‘Can you tell me why all modern buildings are so boring?’ … People had this idea that in the good old days architecture had … ornament and little towers and spires and gargoyles and today, it just becomes very practical,” Ingels said in a statement, via Redskins.com. “Tailgating becomes a picnic in the park.”

Or more like a day at the beach.
