Even as far as April Fools’ Day jokes go, it’s kind of messed up to trick someone into thinking they’ve lost their job.
That’s exactly what Andre Iguodala and his Golden State Warriors teammates recently did to center Festus Ezeli, though.
In an elaborate prank doubling as a Lyft commercial, Iguodala and the ride-sharing service organized a plot to trick Ezeli into believing the Warriors released him.
The detailed scheme even included a fake radio report played during Ezeli’s Lyft ride, as the NBA veteran learns his supposed fate while in the backseat. But that’s not all. Iguodala and a host of Warriors players and coaches text and call the big man to express their sorrow.
Ultimately, Iguodala reveals it was one big gag, much to Ezeli’s relief.
Ezeli deserves all the credit in the world for his calm, cool and collected reaction to finding out he supposedly just lost his job. His attempted cake attack on Iguodala is more than justified.
