BOSTON — David Ortiz has been keeping his emotions in check so far during his final Major League Baseball season, but the Red Sox knew just how to pull on his heartstrings.
Big Papi was the focal point of Monday’s Opening Day ceremonies at Fenway Park, but even he didn’t see the surprise the Red Sox had coming when they called out his 15-year-old daughter, Alex, to sing the national anthem.
And there’s no lack of talent in the Ortiz family.

Ortiz understandably was choked up after Alex’s strong rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

Ortiz has made a lot of memories in his 20-year career, but that’s certainly one he’ll never forget.
