Eduardo Rodriguez doesn’t need fancy gifts to have a happy birthday.

The Boston Red Sox starter turned 23 on Thursday, and his way of celebrating was doing some rehab work on his injured knee.

It’s the little things, really.

Rodriguez is on the 15-day disabled list to start Boston’s season after hyperextendng his knee on Feb. 27. There’s no timetable for his return, and knuckleballer Steven Wright currently is filling the No. 5 spot in the rotation in his stead.

Rodriguez went 10-6 with a 3.85 ERA over 121 2/3 innings in 21 starts for the Red Sox in 2015.
