Mookie Betts Crushes Pitch To Green Monster For Two-Run Home Run

BOSTON — Mookie Betts put his slump behind him in a big way.

The Red Sox right fielder had two hits in his last 21 at-bats going into Wednesday’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays and had racked up 16 total strikeouts this season. So, with Jackie Bradley Jr. on second base, Betts smoked a Chris Archer fastball to one of the light towers on the Green Monster in the second inning.

Betts’ blast traveled 105 mph off the bat and was his third home run of the season. It put the Red Sox up 5-0 on the Rays at the time.
