Penguins’ Marc-Andre Fleury Out Indefinitely With Second Concussion Of Season

The Pittsburgh Penguins suffered a major loss Saturday when the team announced starting goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury will be sidelined with a concussion.

It’s his second concussion of the season.

Backup netminder Matt Murray will start in net Saturday against the New York Islanders.

Former teammate James Neal hit Fleury in the mask with a shot in Thursday night’s game against the Nashville Predators, but it’s unclear if that’s what caused the concussion.

Fleury has enjoyed an excellent season and is among the primary reasons why Pittsburgh has been one of the NHL’s hottest teams since New Year’s Day.

He’s 35-17-6 with a .921 save percentage and a 2.29 goals against average in 58 games played.

The Penguins entered Saturday’s game with a one-point lead over the New York Rangers for second place in the Metropolitan Division. A win Saturday clinches a playoff spot for Pittsburgh.
