Red Sox Announce 25-Man Roster, DL Designations For MLB Opening Day

The Boston Red Sox made their Opening Day roster official.

With the Major League Baseball season starting Sunday with a game between the St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates, the Red Sox announced their 25-man roster, including a handful of disabled list designations. Nothing changed personnel-wise, but Boston did reveal how long its four players on the DL would be there.

Pitchers Eduardo Rodriguez (knee), Carson Smith (forearm) and Brandon Workman (elbow) and catcher Christian Vazquez (elbow) all were sent to the 15-day disabled list. Smith and Vazquez’s assignments are retroactive to March 25.

Otherwise, the Red Sox are carrying 12 pitchers, two catchers, seven infielders and four outfielders.

Here’s the full roster for Boston’s Opening Day matchup against the Indians in Cleveland on Monday.

Pitchers: Matt Barnes, Clay Buchholz, Joe Kelly, Craig Kimbrel, Tommy Layne, Rick Porcello, David Price, Noe Ramirez, Robbie Ross Jr., Junichi Tazawa, Koji Uehara and Steven Wright.

Catchers: Ryan Hanigan and Blake Swihart.

Infielders: Xander Bogaerts, Brock Holt, David Ortiz, Dustin Pedroia, Hanley Ramirez, Pablo Sandoval and Travis Shaw.

Outfielders: Mookie Betts, Jackie Bradley Jr., Rusney Castillo and Chris Young.
