Syracuse Legend ‘Pearl’ Washington’s Death Saddens Orange Coach Jim Boeheim

Syracuse basketball legend Dwayne “Pearl” Washington died early Wednesday morning due to complications from a brain tumor. He was 52.

Washington played at Syracuse from 1983-84 through the 1985-86 season where he led the Orangemen to three straight NCAA appearances and earned All-Big East honors three times.

The Syracuse community has shown immense support for Washington’s family including Syracuse basketball head coach Jim Boeheim, who tweeted his condolences shortly after the news broke.
