Timberwolves Fire Interim Coach Sam Mitchell After Missing NBA Playoffs
The Minnesota Timberwolves have made the first major move of their offseason.
The team announced Wednesday night it had relieved interim head coach Sam Mitchell of his duties, with a statement from team owner Glen Taylor.

This was far from a surprising move, given the T-Wolves’ struggles this season. They finished 13th in the Western Conference with a 29-53 record, the fifth-worst in the NBA. Minnesota has missed the playoffs in 12 consecutive seasons.
That said, this will be one of the most sought-after jobs in the league, given the extraordinary talent on this roster, including likely Rookie of the Year winner Karl-Anthony Towns, 2015 ROY winner Andrew Wiggins, Zach Lavine and Ricky Rubio.
The future is bright for the T-Wolves, and all they need is a veteran head coach to take them to the next level.
