Tyler Seguin Injury: Stars Forward To Miss NHL Playoff Opener Vs. Wild

The Dallas Stars will be without No. 1 center Tyler Seguin for Game 1 of their first-round playoff series against the Minnesota Wild on Thursday night.

Fortunately for Dallas, it won’t be a long-term issue, according to coach Lindy Ruff.

The Stars announced March 18 that Seguin had a 15 percent cut to his Achilles and would miss three to four weeks, but he was expected to return for the postseason.

If morning skate line combos are any indication, Cody Eakin will move up to Seguin’s normal spot at first-line center between veteran wingers Jamie Benn and Patrick Sharp.

Even without Seguin, who tallied 73 points in 72 games during the regular season, the Stars still should be able to score enough goals to win Game 1. Dallas had the No. 1-ranked offense in the NHL with a 3.2 goals scored per game average.
