Bryce Harper Gets Ejected, Gives Ump A ‘F— You’ During Walk-Off Celebration

Bryce Harper just added another page to the “Make Baseball Fun Again” textbook, but it could cost him.

The reigning National League MVP was ejected for arguing balls and strikes late in the Washington Nationals’ 5-4 walk-off win over the Detroit Tigers on Monday. But it was what he did as the game ended that had pundits sighing (or cheering, depending on which side of the fence they stood).

Harper’s ejection came before teammate Clint Robinson hit a walk-off home run, prompting Harper to spring back on to the field as part of the bouncing pile at home plate. During the celebration, Harper quickly turned his attention to home plate umpire Brian Knight. Harper gave him a piece of his mind in a rather profane manner.

“I was pretty upset. … So let him hear what I have to say — and let him hear it again,” Harper told reporters after the game, per The Associated Press. “And, you know, so what?”

There’s probably a good chance Harper hears from the league office about this one, and he doesn’t seem to mind that one bit.

“If I do (get fined), I do,” he added. “I’ll pay it. Maybe he’ll get fined, too. So we’ll see.”

We guess Harper was due for a somewhat unruly event anyway, considering the fantastic thing he reportedly did for a homeless woman recently.
