Jake Arrieta Has To Get Regrettable Tattoo After Losing Bet With Cubs Teammate

There are plenty of bad sports tattoos out there, but you don’t usually see them on the athletes themselves.

Until now.

Chicago Cubs ace Jake Arrieta apparently was feeling pretty cocky recently and made a bet with teammate Tommy La Stella that his alma mater, TCU, would beat the second baseman’s Coastal Carolina in the College World Series. The stakes were that the losing Cub would have to get a tattoo of his teammate’s school logo.

And the Horned Frogs lost to the Chanticleers on Saturday.

“So happy for those kids,” La Stella said Sunday, per ESPN.com. “When we get back to Chicago, we’ll get (Arrieta) tatted up for life.”

La Stella heads to Triple-A Iowa on Monday for a rehab assignment, but he told ESPN he’ll check in with Arrieta until the pitcher gets his CCU tattoo. La Stella might even record the whole ordeal once it happens.

“If it’s a body part that’s visually acceptable, absolutely,” La Stella said.

La Stella also lost a bet to Arrieta when TCU beat Coastal Carolina earlier in the week. However, that’s probably little consolation for the pitcher, as La Stella has the far-less permanent task of dressing as the Horned Frogs mascot.
