Nationals’ Michael Taylor Might Have Had The Worst Game In Baseball History

We’re not even exaggerating here when we suggest Michael Taylor might have had the worst Major League Baseball game. Ever.

Before we get too far, let’s state what should be the obvious. Baseball is an extremely difficult sport to play. Taylor, as a major leaguer, is better at baseball than just about any of us are at anything. He makes a lot of money to play a game and probably has a better life than most of us and all that good stuff.

Now that we got that out of the way, the Washington Nationals outfielder was really, really bad on Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Taylor’s issues at the plate were obvious. The 25-year-old leadoff hitter went 0-for-5 with, you guessed it, five strikeouts. In the process, Taylor left five men on base.

Somehow, things got even worse.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, with the Nationals clinging to a one-run lead, Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig came to the plate and hit a sharp ground ball into center field. Taylor charged the ball, but he didn’t get his glove on the ground. The ball went underneath him and kept rolling and rolling and rolling. The tying run easily scored, and Puig raced around the bases to score the game-winning run.

“Ouch” doesn’t even do it justice for Taylor.

“I know this isn’t the player that I am,” Taylor told reporters after the game, per The Washington Post. “It’s just a bad day. Come back tomorrow, come out here and work and get past it.”

Here’s hoping he does.
