In a somewhat surprising move, the Boston Celtics didn’t strike a trade involving the No. 3 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft on Thursday night, instead selecting Jaylen Brown of California.
The Chicago Bulls and Philadelphia 76ers reportedly were among the teams engaging Boston for the third overall selection, forcing them to move on to the next two picks.
Both Chicago and Philadelphia are furiously trying to acquire the fifth overall pick from Minnesota, according to league sources
