Move over, Brock Lesnar. Another popular name could be doubling up on WWE and UFC.
Paige VanZant is in preliminary talks with WWE about appearing at this year’s SummerSlam pay-per-view event, the UFC star’s manager, Mike Roberts of MMA Inc., confirmed to FOX Sports on Monday.
VanZant was the runner-up on the most recent season of “Dancing with the Stars.” And while it’s unclear what role she might have at SummerSlam, WWE reportedly has inquired about her appearing at the Aug. 21 event “in some capacity.” SummerSlam is WWE’s second-biggest annual pay-per-view event behind WrestleMania.
According to FOX Sports, negotiations also are ongoing regarding VanZant’s return to UFC. The 22-year-old last stepped into the octagon Dec. 10 against Rose Namajunas, a bout she lost in the fifth round via submission.
The news of VanZant’s possible SummerSlam cameo comes just days after it was announced that Lesnar, who is under contract with WWE, will be fighting July 9 at UFC 200. The former WWE/UFC heavyweight champion will square off with Mark Hunt in what could be a one-off appearance. Lesnar already is scheduled to appear at SummerSlam.
Another female UFC star, Ronda Rousey, appeared at WrestleMania 31. We’ll see if VanZant follows suit and dips her toes in the sports entertainment industry.
