Watch A Slow-Pitch Softball Player Hit The Most American Home Run Ever

Launching softballs into the abyss certainly qualifies as an American activity. It’s a derivation of the United States’ national pastime, with a little extra muscle mixed in for good measure.

But Ryan Harvey, a member of the U.S. slow-pitch softball national team, took patriotism to another level recently when he hit pretty much the farthest home run you’ll ever see while taking batting practice at Tropicana Field.

It wasn’t just the distance, the height or even the spectacle of making a Major League Baseball park look like a Little League field. It was Harvey’s uncanny ability to plant a softball off a gigantic Old Glory located about 8,000 feet away that just screamed, “America.”

The big red beard was a nice touch, too.
