Celtics’ Isaiah Thomas Admits To Being ‘Starstruck’ Meeting Tom Brady

How did Isaiah Thomas feel about meeting Tom Brady as part of the Boston Celtics’ recruiting pitch to Kevin Durant?

Just like most New England fans would feel about meeting the Patriots’ legendary quarterback.

“I’ve always been a fan of (Brady),” Thomas said recently at a Celtics summer league game in Las Vegas, according to CSNNE.com. “But getting to meet him, I’m even more of a fan.

“I’m not usually starstruck. But that was one of those cases … I didn’t know what to ask him. He’s so down to earth.”

Brady and Thomas both were part of the Celtics’ contingent that traveled to The Hamptons on Fourth of July weekend in an attempt to lure Durant to Boston. The meeting was said to have gone very well, with Durant being impressed by Brady’s presence, too.

In the end, it wasn’t enough, as Durant left the Oklahoma City Thunder in free agency to join the Golden State Warriors, who won an NBA record 73 regular-season games this past season before losing to the Cleveland Cavaliers in seven games in the NBA Finals. But the Celtics still made an offseason splash by signing Al Horford, and Thomas now has another high-profile athlete to call upon.

“I’m going to keep in touch with (Brady),” Thomas told CSNNE.com, adding that the two exchanged numbers and eventually text messages after meeting in The Hamptons.
