Boston Celtics fans might want to pump the brakes on dreaming of Blake Griffin in a C’s jersey.
The Celtics were linked to Griffin on Monday in a three-team trade rumor involving the Los Angeles Clippers and Sacramento Kings, but a “high-level source” told Orange County Register Clippers beat reporter Dan Woike on Thursday that “there’s no truth to any of it.”

The rumor involved sending Griffin to the Celtics, Jae Crowder to the Kings and Rudy Gay to the Clippers. Another report Thursday said Griffin is Boston’s likely trade target, although the Brooklyn Nets’ 2017 and 2018 first-round picks, which the C’s own the rights to, appeared to be a potential sticking point.
Boston also is said to be a potential landing spot for Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook if OKC decides to trade him.
