NFLPA Rips NFL’s ‘Broken System’ After Tom Brady’s Deflategate Appeal Denied

The battle between Tom Brady and the NFL is far from over.

The U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals struck another blow to Brady’s camp Wednesday by denying the New England Patriots quarterback’s petition to have his four-game Deflategate suspension reheard en banc.

But the NFL Players’ Association was quick to fire back, delivering a harsh response to the ruling in a statement Wednesday.

“We are disappointed with the decision denying a rehearing, as there were clear violations of our collective bargaining agreement by the NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodell,” the statement read.

“Despite (Wednesday’s) result, the track record of this League office when it comes to matters of player discipline is bad for our business and bad for our game.

“We have a broken system that must be fixed.”

The response of Brady and the NFLPA likely won’t stop with words, however. A report surfaced Wednesday that Brady is expected to take his case to the U.S. Supreme Court, which would be the QB’s final course of action in attempting to overturn his suspension.

The NFLPA said it would “review all of our options carefully on behalf of Tom Brady and all NFL players.”
