LeBron James finally won a championship for his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers last season.
It came in thrilling fashion, too, as the Cavs became the first team to overcome a 3-1 NBA Finals series deficit when they defeated the Golden State Warriors in a dramatic Game 7.
That probably would be enough for a lot of players, whether they admit it or not, but James doesn’t think like that. Similar to many of the legends that came before him, he’s not satisfied.
The best players find ways to motivate themselves after achieving a lot of success. It’s not easy to do, especially after everyone’s been praising you all summer for last season’s accomplishments.
But James’ mission to leave a great legacy in Cleveland and overcome the Warriors, who loaded up in free agency this summer with the addition of superstar forward Kevin Durant, should provide him with all the motivation needed to strive for back-to-back championships.
It’s going to be the toughest challenge of his career, but if there’s one team capable of preventing the Warriors from reclaiming the Larry O’Brien Trophy, it’s the Cavaliers.
