David Ortiz Says Farewell To Red Sox Nation With Heartfelt Twitter Message

Big Papi has one final message for Red Sox Nation.

Two days after David Ortiz played his final game at designated hitter for the Boston Red Sox, he said goodbye to the fans that cheered him on since 2003 with a touching letter on Twitter.

Ortiz called it a career after hitting 541 home runs and helping the Red Sox win three World Series during his 20-year Major League Baseball career, 14 of which were in Boston.

The ultimate goal was to win World Series No. 4 before walking off into the sunset, but Boston was swept by the Cleveland Indians in the American League Division Series.

But, as Big Papi wrote, he wouldn’t trade his memorable (and historic) final season “for the world.”
