The New England Patriots waited until Stephen Gostkowski had a perfect outing to bring in a free-agent kicker for a workout.
The Patriots worked out kicker Matt Wile, punter Brandon Fields, long snappers John DePalma and Tyler Ott and wide receivers Bralon Addison and Wendall Williams on Monday. The Patriots likely are just updating their free-agent Rolodex in case of emergency. Patriots head coach Bill Belichick praised the performances of Gostkowski and punter Ryan Allen after Sunday’s win over the Buffalo Bills.
Wile, a Michigan product, has spent time with the Carolina Panthers and Dallas Cowboys.
Addison played with the Denver Broncos after going undrafted out of Oregon this preseason. Williams has played for the Houston Texans and New York Jets after he wasn’t selected in the 2016 NFL Draft out of Cumberlands. Williams was timed as low as 4.19 seconds in the 40-yard dash.
