Things keep getting worse for the Arizona Cardinals.
The team announced Monday that Tyrann Mathieu will miss three to six weeks with a shoulder injury, leaving the Cardinals without one of their best defensive players as they look to rebound from a 30-20 loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday that dropped their record to 3-4-1.
Mathieu, who recently has been playing most of his snaps as a slot corner, has started all eight games for the Cardinals this season. His absence will hurt an inconsistent secondary that’s benefited in the past from The Honey Badger’s versatility.
The Cardinals currently are on their bye week, and it couldn’t come at a better time. Once they return to action, they’ll need to figure out a way to fill the void left by Mathieu, who earned a Pro Bowl selection last season.
