Chad Johnson Offers Timely Reminder Amid Brutal Day For NFL Kickers

The NFL had a historically bad day in the kicking game Sunday. But have no fear: Chad Johnson is here.

Kickers across the league have had serious problems this year converting extra points, which was backed up to the 15-yard line ahead of the 2015 season. But those problems turned into an epidemic Sunday, as NFL kickers missed a total of nine PATs in the 1 p.m. ET games alone.

That tally jumped to 11 in the late afternoon games with a Stephen Gostkowski missed PAT and a Steven Hauschka blocked kick, marking a new NFL record for most extra points missed in a single week since the 1970 merger.

So, as kickers stunk it up on the field, an old friend came out of the woodwork with a timely tweet.

Yes, that’s former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson Ochocinco Johnson, and no, the above picture is not a photoshop. During a preseason game against the New England Patriots in 2009, the then-Cincinnati Bengals came on after a touchdown to attempt the extra point — and drilled it.

Of course, Johnson hasn’t played in the NFL since 2012, so no one should take his tweet seriously. But he’s not the first ex-wide receiver to show off his kicking skills this season, and the way things are going in the kicking game, no option is off the table.
