MLB Rumors: Yoenis Cespedes To Re-Sign With Mets For Four Years, $110M

Yoenis Cespedes apparently is staying put … again.

Considered by many the top free agent of the 2016-17 class, the outfielder will re-sign with the New York Mets, FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal reported Tuesday.

Rosenthal and Yahoo! Sports’ Jeff Passan both reported the contract is a four-year deal worth $110 million. Multiple reports indicated the Mets included a no-trade clause in the contract.

Cespedes spent parts of the last two seasons with the Mets after the club acquired him from the Detroit Tigers at the 2015 trade deadline. Cespedes, a pending free agent after being acquired by the Mets, re-signed with New York following the 2015 season. The sides agreed on a three-year deal worth $75 million, including $27.5 million in the first season, but that contract came with an opt-out clause that Cespedes excercised following the 2016 season.

Cespedes had another fine season in 2016, belting 31 home runs and driving in 86 runs to go along with an .884 OPS. He turned 31 in October.
