People Are Bidding Over $800 On A Game-Worn Tim Tebow Mets Jersey, For Some Reason

If the New York Mets really did sign Tim Tebow to make more money on merchandise and ticket sales, then it seems to be working.

The former NFL quarterback-turned-outfielder is playing in the Arizona Fall League this season, with a .185 batting average, .489 OPS and more strikeouts (15) than hits (10) in 16 games for the Scottsdale Scorpions through Monday, but those stats apparently haven’t stopping anyone from spending big money on his jersey. That’s pretty evident from the AFL game-worn Tebow jersey that was going for over $800 in a Major League Baseball auction as of Tuesday.

It appears Tebow now is a “top prospect,” too.

The Mets’ signing of Tebow has been a contentious issue for minor leaguers, as the 29-year-old received a $100,000 signing bonus despite not having played baseball since high school. But there’s no denying his presence attracts a paying crowd.

If you still don’t believe it after seeing the jersey, just take a look at how much a Tim Tebow groundout ball will cost you.
