Kirk Cousins is playing like a franchise quarterback, and the Washington Redskins might have to pay him like one.
The team likely will place a second consecutive franchise tag on Cousins, who’s set to become an unrestricted free agent after this season, Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole reported, confirming an earlier report from CBSSports.com’s Jason La Canfora.
With Robert Griffin III finally out of the picture, Cousins has taken his game to another level and might be playing better than any quarterback in the league right now. That’s probably why the Redskins would even consider paying him the $24 million another franchise tag would bring.

Wherever Cousins winds up after this season, let’s hope he provides more clip-worthy moments like these.

The Redskins enter Week 13 at 6-4-1 and still in the race for an NFC wild-card playoff spot.
