Cody Eakin Ejected For Brutal Hit On Rangers Goalie Henrik Lundqvist

Stars forward Cody Eakin might be facing a suspension from the NHL after he made absolutely no attempt to avoid Henrik Lundqvist and completely drilled the New York Rangers goaltender during Thursday night’s game in Dallas.

Eakin, unsurprisingly, was given a five-minute major penalty for charging and ejected from the game. There’s a real possibility he is suspended, maybe for multiple games.

Lundqvist left the game after the hit but returned soon after.

One of the stranger parts of this sequence, though, was the lack of a response from the Rangers who were on the ice at the time of the incident. No one stood up for Lundqvist and fought Eakin.

Weird.
