Hear BU Women’s Hockey Announcer Go Absolutely Bonkers Over OT Goal

The Boston University women’s hockey team defeated Minnesota on Saturday in a pretty exciting regular-season hockey game. But if you were listening to the radio, you might have thought the Terriers had just won five Stanley Cups at the same time.

BU captain Natalie Flynn provided the heroics, scoring in overtime to lift her team to a 6-5 win over the Golden Gophers. The true hero of the night, though, was Max Wolpoff, the Terriers’ radio play-by-play announcer.

Here’s Wolpoff’s call of Flynn’s game-winner, which should be heard at medium volume so as not to destroy your eardrums.

We wish we loved anything as much as Wolpoff loved that goal.

Wolpoff, a BU student as well as a Washington Capitals fan, initially was a bit ashamed about screaming himself hoarse (while dropping a solid “The Truman Show” reference for good measure).

What do you think?  Leave a comment.

But his enthusiastic call since has swept the nation, and Wolpoff now seems to be embracing the limelight.

Although his newfound fame might affecting his studies a bit …

Let’s hope those aren’t oral exams, because we’re still not sure if Wolpoff has his voice back yet.
