Bubba Wallace’s Mom Dropped Mic With Legendary Text After Daytona 500

Darrell Wallace Jr. deserves a ton of credit for his second-place finish in the Daytona 500 — but not all the credit.

And his mother was quick to remind him of that shortly after his debut in the “The Great American Race.”

Check out this text that Desiree Wallace sent her son after watching him finish runner-up to Austin Dillon, via NASCAR reporter Jeff Gluck:

Leave it to Mom to keep you in check on the most important day of your professional life.

Among all the remarkable images from Sunday’s NASCAR season opener, the one of Wallace and his mother tearfully embracing each other might be the most lasting. The Richard Petty Motorsports driver’s run-in with Denny Hamlin was also noteworthy, although for entirely different reasons.

Wallace still has a (little) ways to go before he proves worthy of his full-time ride in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. Still, he and his family quickly are becoming fan favorites — and for good reason.
